Today I wanted to write about Begtse, a Buddhist dharmapāla of war, he originates as a pre-Buddhism Mongolian war god.
Begtse is married to Rikpay Lhamo, who often appears by his side with Laihansorgodog and the twenty-nine butchers.
Some people, both historical and those only recorded in folklore, have been considered incarnations of Begtse including King Geser and Russian civil war general Roman von Ungern-Sternberg.
Begtse is also referred to by his epithet Jamsaran.
Begtse is a common figure in Mongolian and Tibetan Cham dance.
