Today I wanted to write about Hayk, an Armenian folk hero who founded Armenia
In Christianised versions Hayk is the great-great-grandson of the biblical Noah through Japheth. Hayk’s great-great-great-great-great-grandson is Ara the Handsome. Hayk is know for fighting the Babylonian King Belus and creating the Armenian Nation.
Hayk was synchronized with the Urartian god Haldi, Assyrian Ashur, and Hellenic Zeus. The original pre-christian version of Hayk’s battle with Belus may have been similar to that of Zeus and Kronos.
