Yule

Happy Yule to all those celebrating.

Yule also know as The Julblot is a Germanic pagan holiday celebrating the return of life to the world with large feasts of the food that wouldn’t survive the harsh winter months. Yule takes place on the winter solstice which has the smallest amount of day light hours.

Yule was historically connected to Odin, Freyr, Njörđr, Thor, and Sól. The festival has also been connected to the various leaders of the wild hunt (including Frau Holle), and Wiccan groups see it as the day the Oak King takes the thrown from the Holly King.

Festivities often include: feasting, bonfires/Yule log burnings, traditional cakes, and seasonal decorating with evergreens.
