Hathor

I’ve been wanting to write about Hathor since I started my blog but just haven’t gotten around to writing about her. She’s a kemetic goddess of the sky, the sun, art, music, joy, life, love, beauty, fertility, sexuality, boundaries, the afterlife, the soul, femininity, dance, queens, mothers, fate, travellers, foreign lands and people, other things.

She’s an eye of Ra goddess and is the consort of Horus, or Ra.

She was combined with many other kemetic goddesses including Isis, Nut, Mehet-Weret, Bat, and Mut. She was also synchronized with Aphrodite and Hera.

Hathor is most commonly depicted with bovine characteristics but sometimes she is crocodile-like.

She was often prayed to by women wanting to be mothers although her domain reaches much further than just that.
